Sci-fi con can be fun, I've been to one but not really my slice of cake. I've been to one in Chicago but its the only one. Anime cons are far more fun. Well for me anyway.

Come out to StarFest in CO. It's a general geekdom con that has a bit of everything (even if it's naturally heavy to Star Trek/Wars/gate). The two years I've been there, I've cosplayed as a pirate and as an elf and was welcomed with open arms.

There is one other advantage of General Sci-Fi Cons: BOOZE! That's right, Room Parties not only are allowed, they're encouraged!

Yes, that's why I am leery of any guy who tells me that it is OK not to drink at a sci-fi con, though I have met people who go to the con and don't drink.

Sometimes I drink at a con sometimes I don't. But when I do I know how to behave myself and not cause trouble and get so drunk, that I'm wearing a lampshade on my head and pukein' on a table.

I can see some self control, that's good. LOL, though I'm the one watching the whole puke on the table, usually I try to be tolerant.

Sadly, that might not be possible.
